Immerse yourself in the vast beauty of true African wilderness. Fig Tree Bush Camp is situated on the banks of the Shishamba River, an exciting short drive from its sister camp, Mukambi Lodge. The camp has an elephantine Fig Tree, hence the name, as its centre piece, hanging over the dining Boma. Lagoons are formed seasonally along the Shishamba River, leaving sprawling, sandy beaches along its length. Fig Tree Bush Camp has one such beach of its own, allowing guests to unwind under the illustrious African stars after supper, around a hearty campfire, encompassed by the sounds of the bush.

Busanga Bush Camp lies on a verdant island in the middle of Kafue’s Busanga Plains. Day and night drives and seasonal boating take in the diverse wildlife in this remote place on the ground, or a hot air balloon ride by air. This intimate camp has just four tents set under leafy fig trees. The main area – under canvas – is a favourite space amongst guests, particularly at sunrise when the rising mist gradually reveals masses of lechwe and puku dotted across the floodplain. Dining also takes place under the canopy of a majestic tree from which an unusual lantern chandelier hangs, romantically lighting up dinner.

About an hour east downstream by boat from sister camp Chiawa, Old Mondoro is located in the wonderfully open area of Faidherbia Forest. The camp is a far simpler affair than Chiawa yet the guiding levels, activity choice, service and excellent home-cooking remain on par.
The comfortable rooms are strung out along a hippo-friendly channel off the Zambezi, enjoying great views with their half-height walls and timber decks. Activities at Old Mondoro focus on game drives, walks, canoeing and boating, though the elephant and hippo activity around camp are enough to encourage a lodge-based safari!

Its diversity can be discovered on game Puku Ridge Camp is in a remote part of the South Luangwa NP, overlooking a wildlife-rich lagoon where there is seemingly always something to see. The camp was rebuilt completely in 2019 after its purchase from Sanctuary Retreats by Chichele Safaris and is a collaboration with Chiawa Safaris of Chiawa Camp & Old Mondoro repute. With this comes "Best in Africa" award winning hospitality and guiding.
The design is African canvas/chic style and the camp blends in completely with its gorgeous, wild environment. This is a luxury camp with every comfort yet it is intimate and friendly with just eight tents, and offers the authentic safari experience that many people long for.
Lion Camp by Mantis is a privately owned safari lodge in one of the best safari locations in Zambia. It is built on the edge of an oxbow lagoon which attracts a wide variety of wildlife. Located amongst rolling plains, plateaus, river banks and miombo vegetation, built in 2017 by only local villagers from rural Mfuwe area, guided by the German / Swiss owners couple, Chikunto Safari Lodge is renowned for its surviving wildlife species, providing breath taking scenery and game viewing right from its sweeping terrace and your doorstep. The main area incorporates reception, dining area, bar and lounge under a thatch roof. Out-side just some steps away, there is a big fire pit to sit around and enjoy your drink before or after dinner. Bilimungwe Bushcamp is a cosy camp offering an authentic safari experience in the knowledgeable hands of an award-winning guide. The heart of camp is the rustic lounge area set beneath a huge winterthorn tree and looking out over a shady waterhole – an establishment favoured by local warthogs, elephant and other thirsty game. When it comes to wildlife-watching at Bilimungwe, it’s hard to know where to look first – choose from the tangle of mahogany trees surrounding camp, the nearby plain where leopard prowl, the popular waterhole, or the open waters of the Luangwa River. Put simply, this is a nature-lover’s paradise, and with Manda Chisanga – Bilimungwe’s award-winning resident guide – to lead you, you could not be in better hands.
Set on the banks of the shallow, spring-fed Kapamba River, Kapamba is surrounded by some of the South Luangwa National Park’s richest wildlife. Watching an elephant take a dip in the river can be quite an experience when you’re lounging in your own private plunge pool. The central bar and dining room is positioned under a huddle of matumi and sausage trees, with a wide deck that stretches out with views of the Kapamba River. And if that’s still not close enough for you, why not enjoy your G&T from the middle of the river itself, your feet dipped in the cool, crystal shallows.
Two of the chalets are twins (2 queen-sized beds) and two are doubles (king-sized bed). Kapamba has the longest season of our Bushcamps and is open from April to January.
